Showcasing some of my favorites today!  You remember little Will, from last year?  Well I didn’t realize how much he’s grown since I went back and took a look at our last shoot.  And I also didn’t understand why Melissa was telling me she wanted to do pictures while the leaves were still on the trees this fall, because I just loved how her backyard looked last year when all the leaves had fallen leaving the naked trunks in the background–until I walked out to their backyard at peek foliage this year.  Lenny (I’m going to go ahead and assume it was him unless you’ve got a green thumb I don’t know about, Melissa) has created this magical, peaceful fall wonderland that makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by miles and miles of gorgeousness smack dab in the middle of their suburban neighborhood.  And the colors on the trees seemed brighter than others I have seen this season.  I’m not sure how he does it, but then again, I’m not sure how he designed and built the house these cuties live in either with such immaculate detail.  Every room in their house has the most amazing wood floors, and I didn’t even realize that there was such variety in floors.  I picture Lenny going in the woods somewhere and cutting down trees, sanding the planks and then creatively puzzling them into gorgeous patterns in his house.  Melissa, how’d you manage to snag a guy with decorating AND building abilities.  Geesh–Alex needs a good two hours and a whole bottle of wine to screw in a new lightbulb.  (Sidebar: Alex told me it’s not funny when I use self deprecating humor directed at him on my blog–and that it doesn’t count as self deprecation at all if it’s about him.  But I think it’s a little funny…only because it’s a little true.)

And you’ll notice even more has changed since last year because Will is now a big brother to the most adorable little peanut, Greta, who will someday be my daughter-in-law when she marries Nico.  She’ll probably end up being at least a foot taller than him, but he’s totally OK with it.  In seriousness, having Melissa around for me to text and check in about how both her babies are doing and run my craziness by her about how both my babies are doing has been a lifesaver this year.  I feel super lucky to have her and her entire family in my life…and it will only get better when we knock down the house next door to theirs and have Lenny remodel it for us in immaculate and gorgeous detail, and catch Nico and Greta making in our backyards.
