Meet Bailey | Canandaigua, NY

Heyyy!

I’m still blogging from my trip to New York and have a very special little girl I’m about to introduce you to. Bailey’s mom, Jennifer, and I tried to set up a shoot for her for, what now, a year? Every trip home, I’d contact Jennifer, we’d pick a date, and I kid you not, there’d be a massive rain storm or a blizzard plowing through. forcing us to reschedule for the next visit. And then I’d go back on my way to Boston and see all these adorable photos of Bailey that Jennifer would post on Facebook…Bailey with cowgirl boots, Bailey with pigtails watering flowers, Bailey in tutus….and my heart would drop slightly that I couldn’t get my camera on this girl, (because if there’s one thing my camera loves, it’s adorable little girls in adorable little outfits doing adorable little things!) So this past trip, Jennifer and I picked a date for Bailey’s shoot and sure enough, the weather was horrendous. It was gray, it was raining sideways, and it was so humid the lens of my camera was fogging up which I didn’t even know was possible. After much deliberation and a million texts back and forth, we decided to throw caution to the wind (the very, very wet wind) and try to get some shots regardless. And luckily, we got a small break in the crazy rain long enough to get some pretty cute photos.

In hindsight, I love that it worked out that we did this close to the 4th of July since most of my memories of that holiday include Jennifer.  Jennifer is my cousin’s cousin, and I’ve always considered her part of my own family.  When we were younger, we spent almost every 4th of July together eating marshmallow jello and Sahlen hotdogs at a picnic at my aunt’s house.  I remember all the big kids would light bottle rockets off my uncle’s grill while the little kids, like Jennifer and me, would get to light our own “fireworks” which were actually those little pill shaped things that grew into ashy snakes.  We’d have a big family game of wiffle ball where someone would accuse someone of cheating (which they most likely were) and ended the night with a fireworks show put on by my cousins with the loot they hand smuggled over the border from Canada (which always resulted in someone almost losing a hand and the cops being called, every year without fail.)  Catching up with Jennifer and having our own babies play together seemed so strange in some ways since my memories are of the two of us being the “babies” of the family…and yet it seemed so perfect at the same time.  Leo loved Bailey and she was so sweet to him.  My aunt would have loved to see these two play together.

Here is beautiful Bailey and giraffey.  Don’t you just want to squeeze her?

Jennifer, thank you for coming over!  It was so fun to catch up with you.  Bailey is so precious and I love every bit of her!
