When I first started taking pictures, I used to pin images that I hoped one day I’d be able to take and keep them on a photo “bucket list”. I had this one picture of a dreamy baby laying on antique mismatched blankets and have been in search of trying to replicate the image ever since. I’ve photographed many a dreamy baby since on adorable swaddles, receiving blankets, and throws, but getting the right pair proved quite the challenge. So when I spotted two handmade blankets in little Lucy’s room, one that belonged to her mama when she was a baby, and the other to her daddy, I was thrilled to check this little photo off my list. In actuality, Lucy’s whole adorable nursery was basically my dream pin board for a little girl, but since I’ll never have one, I’m happy that I was able to photograph little Lucy in hers.
I met Jillian and Matt and their sweet little peanut on a drizzly dark Boston afternoon, much like today. Matt greeted me outside and carried in my bag and was literally beaming about his baby girl, that, might I add, was already on a schedule at 6 weeks (mind you, my 7 month old was still not). Their house was so cozy and filled with so much joy for their new little girl that it was contagious. I literally wanted to hug them the entire time and tell them how happy I was for them–creepy? Maybe. Jillian showed me the outfits she bought for the shoot and I was literally drooling–it’s almost like she got in my head and pulled out all the little things I love for baby girls, purchased them, and had them laying out for me like hidden treasures ready for the taking. We spent a few hours getting to know one another, taking some pictures, and obsessing over every baby coo and wiggle little Lucy made.
I know this family just entered my life, but I feel like they were sent to me for a reason and I’m so so so glad to have met them. Take a look at this adorable little newborn and her perfect nursery.
Like, if I wedged myself right in that family snuggle, would it be weird?
Matt and Jillian–you guys are amaaaaazing. Congratulations on the perfect little girl. She is sweet as can be.
