Finally getting a chance to steal away a few moments to blog a few favorites from my 2016 wedding season, and what a season it’s been. It started just six weeks after Nico was born and, looking back, I’m still not sure how I survived on such little sleep and a massive case of baby brain. Additionally, I managed to shoot this year with strep throat, mastitis and a fever of 103, a cracked rib, and various other nursing related issues that I will spare you all the gruesome details of, but I would not have it any other way. I was also able to shoot in four different states, at the most beautiful venues–many of which were on my “bucket list”, and witness some moments that left me not only in tears, but a big old blubbering mess, and met one of my goals of getting featured on Style Me Pretty. And best yet–I was able to bring my little family along for the ride on a few of my overnight weddings as well.
When people choose me to capture the most important day of their lives, I’m humbled. In most cases, I end up spending more time with them on their wedding day than they do with their new spouse–while meeting the people who they love most and documenting tender, private moments. It is an honor and something that I do not take lightly. So THANK YOU to the couples who allowed me into their lives this past year. The ones who laughed at my horrible jokes and listened to me stumble through the vocabulary that I once had, but was currently lost this past year while taking care of 2 babies under 2 and trying to run a successful business. The ones who let me take “just one more” picture and were game for leaving the reception for a sunset picture. The ones who allowed me to stick a camera in their face while they cried seeing their bride or groom during a first look, or while remembering a loved one that has passed. The ones who danced extra hard on the dance floor making it SO much fun to “work” until all hours of the night. The ones who, I hope, will be forever friends. Without you, my dream wouldn’t be coming true.
I’d also like to give a huuuuuuge shout out to my amazing second shooters who accompanied me on my ride this year including Matt Wood Photography, KJ (and Katie) Wang, Maggie Jill Photography and Iryna’s Photography.
And I’d be super amiss to not send a little blog love to the guy who makes it possible for me to be gone alllllll day every weekend for months at a time. You’re the best, Bruno.
