This is Janelle Carmela Bruno with an important announcement to all the mothers, fathers, grandparents, and caretakers of little babies with no teeth: Never, EVER let your baby eat strawberries.  They are dangerous, dangerous fruits and should be outlawed.  It’d probably be safer to let your baby play with a loaded gun rather than eat a single bite of one of these berries.  Let me tell you why.  I had seen an adorable video my friend had posted of her baby taking a big chomp out of a strawberry that she put in slow motion to the jaws music and posted during Shark Week.  I thought to myself what a great idea it would be to let Leo have a little taste of strawberry too.  So here I go and cut a berry in two thinking he would be able to gum at it just like his friend Cal (yes, Amy, if you are reading this, I totally tried to copy Cal which lead to this whole horrifying experience!) The difference here is that Cal has a mouth full of teeth and Leo has 0.  So instead of chomping down and breaking the berry into little bits, Leo just got it lodged in his throat and started turning blue.  It was the scariest ten seconds of my life and luckily the CPR class I took helped me in helping him get it out.  Keep in mind, this whole situation went down while I was having a conversation with my sister-in-law about how I am always afraid Leo is going to choke on food.  It was like the kid heard me and decided to prove me wrong on cue.  Why don’t babies know how to chew?  They are born knowing how to suck, I don’t understand what the difference is?  I guess it’s just part of being a first-time mom.

If and when I have another baby, I hope I am as calm and collected as Emily and Jeff were when I went to go and photograph their new baby boy, Davis, and big sister, Maisie.  While most new parents tend to fumble anxiously with their newborn, Emily and Jeff where so cool and laid back.  I’m pretty sure I could have brought my horribly behaved dog, Sauce, over to the shoot and he could have jumped all over them, licked the baby, and torn their house apart and they probably would just have shrugged it off and told me it was no big deal.  And I’m sure they’ll give baby Davis bits of food when he can finally have solids and not crazily watch him eat it until they are positive he has swallowed every last bit.   Baby Davis is THE squishiest little peanut ever and I wanted to devour him.  He, I can already tell, is going to be super chill and just hung out while his big sis Maisie stole the show.  She sang, she danced, and she assisted me during the shoot, as you’ll see.   I had so much fun with this adorable family and am OBSESSED with their house.  Let me move in?

Maisie Chase Photography will be officially accepting new clients starting in the Fall of 2015.  She has had practice being my second shooter and has a killer personality.  She won’t disappoint.
