Miami

I have been trying so hard to write this post without mentioning Will Smith’s song.  But seriously, can anyone think of anything about Miami with out “Welcome to Miami, Bienvenido a Miami” running through their head?   I cannot and it is killing me!  Darn you Will Smith!

ANYWAY…we went down to Miami to visit friends and family over spring break and as we stepped off the plane, I immediately asked myself why in the world we chose to live somewhere so cold when we could be “partying in the city where the heat is on, all night on the beach till the break of dawn”.  Ahhhh.  There it goes again…

HOWEVER, we managed to hit Miami at the same exact time that the sky decided to open up and dump ten billion gallons of rain on the city.  We made the most of it and enjoyed hotel hopping on South Beach to wait out the rain because we “heard the storms ain’t nothin’ to mess with.” Oh Will, I succumb.  You are so right.

Here is a pic of our hostess, Freya, who was just as bummed about the rain as we were.

After Miami we headed to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea (thank God I don’t know any songs about Lauderdale), where we spent the weekend sipping mojitos and lounging by our aunt’s pool on the Intracoastal.  The puppy on the left is from a pet boutique called Doggies and Diamonds, that is conveniently located smack dab in the middle of a bunch of beach bars and tempts the liquored up happy tourists by selling these adorable toy puppies.  They have big pictures of the celebrities who have purchased puppies at the store, including the Kardashians, and they encourage you to hold as many puppies as your little heart desires while you stop in.  It’s pretty much impossible to leave that store not wanting to be a dog owner with all those little puppy eyes just begging you to take them home.  Marketing geniuses over there.

Aunt Cheryl had a palm tree thief at their house a while back and celebrated the stolen palm with a party (because who doesn’t throw a party when their palm tree gets stolen?)  I hope someday I have a stolen palm just so I can have a party as fabulous as hers.

Still dreaming about mojitos…until next time Florida!
