Lauren and Kevin’s Snowy Maternity Session

HELLO WORLD!

I feel great today! How ’bout you?

Why am I so great? Well, I’m glad you asked! Because for the very first time ever, my baby SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! The whoooooooole entire night! How’d I do it? Did I read some fancy new book and implement a method of sleep training? Did I start feeding my baby special solid food that sustained his little belly for 12 magic hours? Absolutely not! I finally just put on my big girl pants and put Leo in his own room and passed the heck out (sooooo we actually aren’t sure if he actually slept the whole night or if we are just The World’s Worst Parents and didn’t hear him cry.)

Now before some sleepless new mom reaches through the computer screen to strangle me for bragging, please know that in the past four and a half month I have not slept for more than 3 consecutive hours, have been donning pancakes size bags under my eyes, a brain full of sleepless mush, and holding back tears everytime someone asks me the dreaded “Is he sleeping through the night?” question. And I’m absolutely certain that because I’m actually putting this down in print that it’ll never, ever happen again…but for this day, for this one glorious, lovely day, I can actually function and use compound sentences and not want to bang my head against the wall. I love you Leo! I love you sleep! I love you life!

OK, now that that’s out of the way, I want to introduce you to a gorgeous new soon-to-be mama.  She’s my favorite.  (And Lauren, I am going to say something to you that I used to hate when people said to me…SLEEP NOW! Sleep while you still can. I know you are feeling uncomfortable and probably can’t sleep…but lie in your cozy bed, pull the covers up over your head, and bask in the fact you don’t have to get up for any other reason then you want to!  Don’t leave.  Don’t get up until you go into labor!)  We started emailing and discovered we both share a love for details and craftiness and Pinterest! And when I suggested snowy city maternity photos with mugs of cocoa and heartshaped marshmallows, she was all about it…freezing temperatures, feet on top of feet, on top of feet of snow and all. But when word that Boston’s 5th (or was it 6th?) blizzard was happening on the day we had scheduled our shoot, we had a quick brainstorm session and decided to move the session up. So on their last Valentine’s day sans baby, instead of spending time with one another, Lauren and Kevin spent the morning putting the finishing touches on the adorable nursery they put together for their little girl, the afternoon posing in it, and the evening on a double pizza date with Alex, Leo, and I.  I’m sure that’s just how they pictured their day going:) I’m so excited to share the nursery with you! It’s perfection–Lauren has amazing taste, and even better, is super crafty, and every last detail is super Pinterest-ing. This is one lucky little peanut on the way!

How cute is she and that little teeny baby bump?

OK…PAUSE!  Kevin.  I need to talk about him for a few seconds because he is pretty much the sweetest.  See that mobile hanging over the baby’s crib?  Lauren and Kevin made that together!  I’m fairly certain Alex thinks a glue gun is something you need a license for, but not Kevin!  He is hands-on in the craftiness and I love that.  He’ll be such an awesome little girl daddy.

This pillow?  Lauren made it.  Whipped it right up like it was no big deal.

Lauren and Kevin…I couldn’t imagine a more fun Valentine’s Day (I’m SURE you couldn’t either).  I can’t wait to meet your baby girl!  Enjoy the silence and sleep before the best thing of your life gets here!

Much love!
