Brittany & Sean: Engaged!

Also known as The Day I Almost Froze to Death…

I kid you not, we scheduled Brittany and Sean’s engagement session on the absolute coldest day of the year. Honestly, cold doesn’t even describe it…freezing? Bone chilling? Nope…colder than that. How about: MIND NUMBINGLY COLD!  So cold that my finger couldn’t even click the shutter button-I literally had to more the camera up to push my frozen finger down to take each shot.  My legs, that had the unfortunate location of being too low to be covered by my coat and too high to be covered by my boots and therefore were protected by only one layer–ended up being so cold they felt like they were on fire.  It wasn’t even right. But for as cold as I was all bundled up, poor Brittany and Sean must have been a billion times colder in much less clothing and were really nice not to punch me in my face when I complained about the weather as they stood in their cute little camera-ready outfits that had much less insulation. But that’s not surprising seeing as these two are pretty much the world’s nicest and seem to overlook all my crazy antics. For example, I had my first consultation with Brittany over the phone after downing two bowls of Cocoa Puffs (yes, I said two, and yes I still love sugary cereal…I was pregnant! Lay off!) and literally talked a mile a minute about God only knows what…and they didn’t mind me emailing them about engagement session locations at 4 in the morning while I was up with a crying newborn…and when I suggested going to a second location after photographing them for an hour in the arctic tundra that was Salem, MA that day, they kept quiet and followed my insane orders. I mean, I definitely would have had some words to whisper under my breath about myself…but Brittany and Sean took it all in stride and didn’t even admit for one single second that they were experiencing the beginning stages of hypothermia. What I love most about them? You can’t even tell. They look completely gorgeous in all that cold.

Ugh. How’d I get so lucky to get these two?

Hey anybody! Is this your house? If so, thanks for letting us use the front steps 🙂

So this is where we decided to turn things up (or maybe I should say down due to the temperature) a notch. Since they got engaged by a lighthouse, we really wanted to get a picture by the lighthouse in Salem…which jets out into the water and is a good ten minute hike in the snow and FREEZING COLD! It was so worth it when we realized that the day we chose was the anniversary of their engagement and Salem was the site of their first date. Completely coincidental. How these two still look gorgeous and don’t have snot running down their noses or tears streaming down their face is beyond me.

Brittany and Sean…I am so glad we didn’t all end up in the ER with frostbite and am SO excited for August.  Let’s hope for milder weather!  Can’t wait!
