This is my most favorite time in Boston. If you are one of the few of us still here, you know what I’m talking about…and if you are one of the many who are sitting on a crowded beach either north or south of the city right now, fighting off the masses for a parking spot, and trying to find a sliver of sand to park yourself for the day, I’m so sorry! Boston, the week after the 4th, is absolutely heavenly. The city feels empty, the roads are completely open, there are no lines at the best restaurants, and I can actually get to some place that is twenty minutes away IN twenty minutes. It’s like some super perfect bizarro world that I wish could remain for the entire year. So if all of you on vacation people want to stay on vacation, I’d be cool with that. I love Boston just like this.
You know what else I love? Engagement sessions. And I especially love engagement sessions when they are in Newburyport on a warm summer evening with two really awesome people. Enter Carrie and Brandon. We spent a few hours running all over Newburyport a few days ago. Like, ALL over Newburyport. See, prior to going there, I had been scoping out places I wanted to shoot and my list was long. I put one of my friends on the task too, and together, we had google imaged every single part of Newburyport and I sent her on a walk around town to locate a gazillion places that were perfect for pictures. So I was thrilled that Carrie and Brandon were up for the challenge and I want to give them both props for two very different reasons. Brandon, you got a high five for not killing me, because I’m pretty sure Alex would have thrown me over the dock and into the water after the first hundred locations. And Carrie, girl, you get the award for running around the cobblestone streets in your heels and not breaking an ankle. I’d also like to thank these two for not firing me. You see, we had secured most of the details about this shoot while I was in NY which happened to be the same time Leo decided to revert back to his first days on earth and not sleep for more than two hour increments. I’d send Carrie emails at all hours of the night that read like this: “Hi Carrie, mumbo jumbo, goobly gook, blah blah, yada yada yada”. Then, I’d sleep for about twenty minutes while Leo would trick me into thinking he was sleeping until I’d wake up again, reread the message I had just sent, and realized it made no sense before I’d try to send it again. This went on for multiple messages and I can’t imagine who Carrie and Brandon thought they hired. Luckily, when I finally met them in person, I was able to string together a compound sentence or two and I think we had adult conversations that sort of made some sense.
Big shout out to my friend, Meg, who helped me find this wall!

This is Bodie, Carrie and Brandon’s dog who escorted us around Newburyport for the day. Doesn’t he look dapper in his fancy bowtie?

If you read this blog with any consistency (which would probably means you are either my mother or my sister) you know how much I love cake! So I practically died when we stumbled upon this little store. I think I need a sticker for my car.

Carrie’s lashes are insane! Totally jealous.

And then, while I sent Brandon and Carrie to be photographed down there…

Bodie stayed up on the dock with me. Can you tell he was less than impressed?

You guys did awesome! Thanks for letting me parade you around Newburyport. Your wedding day is going to be the absolute best and I cannot wait to celebrate with you!!!
