Happy First Birthday, Maddie!

You know how they say that everyone in the world is separated by 6 degrees?  I happened to be separated by this next family by only one degree, but six different ways.  When I opened up my email inquiring about a first birthday session for little miss Maddie and learned that Jen and Adam happened to know everyone I know, it seemed almost impossible that our paths hadn’t crossed.  Alex has worked with Adam “Muzzy”, for years, and I had been hearing about how awesome he was for about the same time.  His name has come up in our household at least a dozen and a half time, but I usually am only half listening to Alex’s work stories, so I never really processed who this mystery man was. But when some of our closest friends and family started hanging out with Muzzy and his wife, I started to realize that this guy really did exist, and when I finally, FINALLY, got to meet him, he totally exceeded my expectations.  I knew I’d like Muzzy since he is friends with all the people that I like, but no one told me that he was going to strut out of his car dressed like a hipster version of Mr. Rogers with his button down sweater and George Clooney sunglasses.  I just figure that everyone at Alex’s work dresses as boring as he does in the black pants and blue and white checked uniform.  I had no idea that Mr. Muzzy over here would have any style.  (Muzzy, Alex told me that I’m NOT allowed to ask you to help spruce up his wardrobe, because boys apparently don’t do that and it’d be so outrageously weird, but if you were to maybe make a list of all the stores you shop in and send it my way, Alex may finally get out of his boring old man clothing rut!  Please help him!)   And his wife, Jen, stepped out of her car looking gorgeous and glamorous and is the only person I know that could look like she just walked out of a fashion magazine on a Friday afternoon after a long work week.  And their daughter, Maddie.  Ohhhhh little Maddie.  I’m obsessed with her.  She has these stunning blue, blue eyes and cheeks that go on for days, and still she has that baby giggle that I wish I could bottle up and save for bad days and listen to on repeat over and over.  I’m so happy that I was able to photograph this family and that we got such a beautiful day to do it.
