If there’s one thing that gets me going, it’s an email that describes a small, intimate family wedding, and a few weeks ago I received just that from Melissa. Years ago, Melissa and I worked together and she was someone I always admired. While I felt like I was always disheveled and overwhelmed, Melissa was always posed, polished, and knew exactly what she was doing. She was someone I admired, so to be able to photograph her on her wedding day was a thrill. Melissa not only married a wonderful man, but expanded her family by adding another adorable 3-year-old boy to her family which already included an adorable 3-year-old son–yup, TWO little three(nage) boys came together to watch their parents join their families together forever. And as expected, Melissa found a special way to include the boys in the ceremony, and of course, had read them a book about being a ringer-bearer the night before, as only a 3rd grade teacher would think to do. The boys had the time of their lives becoming official brothers…and the dump truck parked on the street really made the day complete. And it’s obvious by the way Mike looked at Melissa and how he needed no direction in front of the camera at all, that he absolutely adores her. This sweet wedding combining four hearts is one I’ll always remember.

So this might be my favorite picture of the day…real life!

So sweet.

Melissa & Mike, Jackson & Andrew, this day couldn’t have been any sweeter. Congratulations on a lifetime of love and laughs. Please send Mr. Silly Pants my best.
