There are literally no pictures of me from when I was a baby.  Actually, I think we have a polaroid picture of me on my baptism and one Sears Portrait Studio picture when I’m about 2, but other than that, nothing.  When I asked my mom about it, she went over to an album in our living room and pulled out a picture and told me it was me.  But it wasn’t.  It was one of the thousands pictures they had taken of my sister and no matter how convincing my mother tried to be, there was no passing off my sister for me.  Such is the life of a third child.

When Brittany announced she was pregnant I never in my wildest dreams thought she’d ask me to take photos–because I just assumed all parents neglected their third babies (which I totally don’t hold against my parents. At all.).  But I guess, somewhere in the world, there still are people who want to document every little detail of their baby, even if it is the third time around.  And Brittany, I LOVE this session.  We not only got the little baby details of little Cody Joel, but we also got the personalities of his big sisters, Devin and Ella.  It was much different than a sleepy, quiet, newborn session for a first baby.  It was energetic and loud and we sang on the top of us our lungs like there wasn’t a little baby trying to sleep.  And where parents are super nervous about the fragility of their first born, third babies get roughed up and pictures with their puppy because their parents know they won’t break.  Oh this Saturday morning was so fun.

Cody was welcomed into the world by his two adorable sisters and they were thrilled to welcome a boy into the family, almost as much as daddy, Jesse was…who was almost as excited as their mom, Brittany.  I always just assume moms want girls and dads want boys, but to see how totally in love Brittany is with her baby boy made my heart melt.  I guess I take it for granted, but I forget how there is something truly magical about a mama and her baby boy.

I won’t make you wait any longer.  These two cuties greeted me at the door…

Cody’s namesake was a professional baseball player.  How sweet was this gift Grandpa Joel gave to Cody? (Although football may be Cody’s main jam if Jesse has anything to do with it.)
