Today would have been my aunt’s 75th birthday.  Sadly, she passed away unexpectedly last month, so my brother lost his godmother the same week his brand new baby girl was being baptized.  It’s hard to lose someone you love–a lesson I feel I’ve been learning all too much these past few years.  My aunt was one of the most supportive people in my life.  She prayed for me when I was having a problem, and believed in me when I thought the road ahead was too rough, and she treated my siblings, cousins, and I like we were her own.  Although I feel like the time I had with her was much too short, I’m so grateful for every second we spent together.  And I hope that I can remember to be as good of an aunt to my little niece as my Aunt Katherine was to me.

Aunt Katherine never got to meet little Cameron, but had bought this eyelet dress for her to wear to the ceremony, so she was with us in her own special way.

I loved that the church my brother belongs to has a baptism pool.  Cameron got dunked like a little biscotti into the giant tub of water and then held up to the entire parish in true Lion King fashion.

And then we had a little party (with cake!) at Cameron’s house, because life is way too short to not spend as much time as you can celebrating health and happiness.

Cameron, I hope to celebrate all the good things that life brings your way with you–just as my aunt did with me!
Love you peanut!
