You know how I usually write all about how I’m so tired in my blogs? Well guess what…not gonna do it! Wanna know why? BECAUSE I’M NOT TIRED! I want to scream it from the mountaintops because for the first time in 3+ years I do not feel completely and utterly, mind-numbingly exhausted. Want to know why? Because last Thursday, after shooting an amazing wedding in Vermont, I got to sleep in a cozy bed ALONE and didn’t set an alarm to hurry back home in the morning. (Big shout out to my mother-in-law, husband, and bestie, Melissa, for making that happen!) I literally didn’t leave the hotel room until the very last minute allowed and didn’t get out of bed until about thirty seconds before that. It’s amazing how you dont need giant cups of coffee to survive a day when you get 8 hours of uniteruppted sleep. And to top it off, I came home to NY to get some babysitting help first thing I could so I could start editing these photos. I’ve stayed up super late, but slept until an ungodly hour that I won’t even write here because it will just be mean to my next-week-self who will be back to busting her booty without 24/7 nannies and not sleeping a wink.
ANYWAY, I am thrilled to be sharing the wedding of Kelly & Tom with you today. There’s so much to love about this day. It started with a big bad downpour of rain, which did not fair well for the long silk dress I decided to wear sans rain coat to the wedding. But that drenched-rat look I sported was well worth the beautiful sky that cleared up for us just in the nick of time for our first look that was complete with ALL the horses in Vermont. A very special thank you to Cassie and the staff at Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden, VT for making our dreams come true as they let us use these gorgeous horses as part of our backdrop for over an hour. Unreal. And adding to the magic of the day was the unbelievable view at the wedding ceremony at Mountain Top, every click of my camera made me gasp at how incredible it was to watch Kelly and Tom exchange vows that they wrote at a place with such a magnificent view. Top it off with Kelly’s uncle serenading the crowd with a Peter, Paul, and Mary song while Tom’s aunt read an exerpt from Winnie the Pooh, and it will come as no surprise that my eyes were welling up behind my lens.
The reception area was styled by Darling Creative Company who are geniuses. With Kelly being a teacher, and Tom a published author, the guest table was adorned with custom made bookmarks and guests were asked to circle a word in the dictionary (remember those?) that reminds them of the couple. Laura Thomson Designed nailed the flowers and it took everything I had not to drape the garland from the head table around my neck like a feathered boa. Kelly and Tom’s first dance was Elvis (swoon) and we all stuffed ourselves on homemade pie for dessert.
There were all these completely memorable moments from this day, but the thing that I just keep hearing back in my head is Kelly saying, “I’m just so happy” over and over again. Kelly was gracious and humble and so happy and I’m blessed that she is in my life. And Tom, well, the look on his face every time he saw his wife was adorable.
Enjoy Hawaii and enjoy some well deserved relaxation my friends! Thank you for the best day.
