So I’ve always had a slight obsession with the Kennedy’s. For example, in college, my sorority had a “dynamic duo date party.” While most people were dressed as current celebrity couples like Britney and Kevin Federline, I convinced/forced my date to dress like the Kennedy’s even though neither one of us looked a thing like them. And when Ted Kennedy died, my friend, Jimbo and I stood in line for 3? 4? hours to attend his memorial service. And to be honest, I may have visited the Kennedy house and museum more than most Bostonians put together.
So why am I owning up to this?
Because a few weeks ago, it felt like I was thrown back in time when I walked up to one of my favorite family’s homes on the Cape to do a family photoshoot. The Devenay kids wanted to surprise their mom, Joanne, with photos for her birthday, and lucky for me, they asked me to capture them at their gorgeous beach house. I’ve always known that this family was stunning, but when I walked up the steps to their home and saw them all sitting together with the sun shining down on all their gorgeous blonde hair and effortlessly dressed in their white beach attire, I had to stop in my tracks for a moment at how beautiful they all looked…just as I imagined the Kennedy clan might. But besides being all pretty and perfect looking, every single person in this family is so ridiculously nice that I just wanted to bleach my hair blonde, throw on a white dress and start calling Joanne, mom. They’re a big family…they might not even notice one more.
We started with some casual candid shots while everyone got ready. Loved watching how this family interacted…no screaming, no fighting, just lovin’ one another and getting pretty.
Emily wasn’t afraid to be my little practice model while we were waiting…check out her sweet dance moves.

Alex has known the Devaney’s since he was little and picked this picture as his favorite…I think he’s got a slight man-crush on Mr. D.

What Joanne doesn’t know is that my family refers to her as “Mrs. Benson” because she looks exactly like my 2nd grade teacher who happens to be one of my favorites even after alllllll these years. And Joanne is just as sweet!
