I totally wish I was one of those people who could see a famous person on the street and act is if they weren’t completely enamored by them. As if their heart didn’t stop beating the second they made eye contact. As if they could act like the celebrity they encountered were just a normal human being and not a humungous deal. But when it comes to seeing famous people, I’m pretty much the worst. I once saw Donald Trump in NYC. His eyes locked with mine and as he said hello to me, I stood there like a fool, staring, and dropped the drink in my hand all over my dress…just one of the many, many idiotic celebrity encounters I could share with you.  Pretty much the only famous people I can act half way normal in front of is athletes, and that’s only because I don’t know who they are (UNLESS of course, I were to run into Jim “The Hammer” Kelly. Then I’d just be googly eyed and in love.)

So you can imagine my complete anxiety when I was asked to photograph American Idol’s Angie Miller last week. She was coming to my school with her mom to interview our kindergarten students for a “Kids Say the Darndest Thing” spoof. They asked the students questions about Thanksgiving and the students gave ridiculously adorable answers. And after, Angie gave the students a private performance. Her voice is ten times more beautiful in person, and I didn’t think it were possible, but so is she.

Luckily, my hands stopped trembling with excitement long enough to document the day.

This is little Jackson. He made Angie a card and announced that he was her biggest fan. I think she was pretty smitten with him as well.

Did I mention Angie’s mom dressed as a Pilgrim during the interviews?  When she asked the kindergarten students who she looked like, some of their responses included Little Red Riding Hood and a pirate. Adorbs.
