Squishy Little Andrew is Finally Here! | Lynnfield, MA Newborn Photographer

So Alex and I do not know the sex of our baby.  We (he) decided that keeping it a surprise would be much more exciting.  Initially, we disagreed on this, so we did what every mature couple about to become parents would do, and placed a bet to see who would get the final say.  After I won, I was certain that we would find out the sex of little baby Bruno…but right before we went to the doctors, I felt a slight sense of guilt that really the only thing Alex has asked for in this whole journey is to keep the sex a surprise.  So I did a little last minute negotiating and gave up finding out the sex in exchange for full-on naming rights and he agreed….although scared I’d regret it, I did ask the nurse to write the sex on a card and put it in a sealed envelope just in case I had a change of heart.  (Now before you go on thinking I’ve got all this will power for having that card with the biggest surprise of our lives written on it, I should mention that the card is 100% of the time in Alex’s possession and I have absolutely no idea where it is.  Left to my own devices, I’m positive I would have opened that thing up in a moment of weakness that would have occurred two minutes after the ultrasound).  Needless to say, I am actually fine not knowing the sex of my own baby…

Other people’s babies, however, KILLS me to not know.  My friend had her midwife record the sex of their baby on a card as well which she had her daughter open on a family vacation 24 hours later and I was pacing the floor until I got her call telling me she was having a boy.  Every second felt like an hour and the suspense was torturous.   And this little baby that I’m about to show you?  Well, not only did we not know his sex, but he decided to wait a very, very long time to come out into the world and let his gender and name be known to the world!  Ah yes, little Andrew Paul kept us all up in arms waiting for his arrival for days and days, but he is finally here and was well worth the wait.

This little guy belongs to one of my very favorite friends, Christine, and her very handsome husband, Chris.  Together, they may win the award for world’s sweetest and most attractive couple, and the fact that they made this little perfect man, makes me so happy.  I loved getting to meet him last week after being in this world for only 5 days, and it made me literally melt watching Chris and Christine in their first days as parents.  I just love them all.  And I love this little guy!…and I have a few wishes for him as he enters this big, new world:

Baby Andrew…

May you grow up to be as good of a friend as your mom: thoughtful, kind, and caring.
May you be as adventurous as your daddy…and have his great hair.
And may you find friends that are as good to you as your parents are to others and, like theirs, build relationships that last forever.

We started the shoot by posing little Andrew in front of the same guitar his dad played for his mom on their wedding day.

I should tell  you that Christine thought she could get away with not being in any of the pictures…but there was no way I was going to let someone so beautiful not have some shots with her new baby.  I think she looks absolutely fabulous and so in love.
