Susannah & Eric | Boston Wedding Photographer

janellecarmelaphotography (50 of 67).jpgOh I just love the next set of photos that I get to share.  When my couples ask where to take engagement photos, I always urge them to pick a place that has meaning to them in some way.  Although Beacon Hill is a gorgeous place to shoot, if it has no meaning, it’s just a pretty backdrop.  I actually prefer to shoot in a dingy bar or a parking lot if it’s the place you first met, or a bowling alley if you play together on a league or your first home together, even if it’s stacked with boxes.  There’s something so special about photos that carry meaning.  But being able to shoot in a spot that is not only significant to a couple but also to their family carries extra importance in my mind.  Before Susannah and Eric even picked a location for their wedding, they knew their engagement session had to be in Lynn Woods.  There’s a huge connection there for Susannah and her family, one that I’d explain in entirety to you, but would probably botch up the details.  Most importantly, however, she wanted to shoot on the pathway that was named after her father which was so green and lush that day and perfectly filtered through the light of the sunrise that his presence was most definitely felt.

I’m not sure when I met Susannah, years ago, but she has remained as bubbly and beautiful now as she was way back when.  This girl literally will figure out a way to save the planet…since I forced these two out of bed to get the best light at sunrise, I brought them both their drink of choice from Starbucks.  When I handed Susannah hers, she whipped out her own reusable straw that she carries in her bag so the plastic doesn’t get caught in turtles noses, meanwhile I’m drinking my two iced coffees a day and practically shoving those straws down those poor reptiles throats myself (don’t hate, I had no clue! I promise I’ll be better!)   Her heart is so big you can practically see it beating out of her chest.  And when she first introduced me to Eric last year, I knew her heart beat for his.  These two just seem made for one another.  They get one another, they love one another, and they sure can laugh with one another like nobody’s business.  And I’m thrilled that they have asked me to be with them on their day.

Shooting this session at Lynn Woods gave me all the feels. Take a look.
