Skyler & Zach’s Engagement Party | Marblehead, MA

From the time I knew how to hold a pencil, until I was seven years old, the same thing was written at the top of my Christmas list every year. I desperately wanted a baby sister. I’m not exactly sure what the draw of not being the youngest was. Perhaps it was the intuition that my own big sister and brother would grow up to be the world’s best, and I wanted someone to look up to me the same way I have always looked up to them…or perhaps it was because the same said sister and brother wouldn’t let me play with them when I was little and I needed a buddy. Regardless, the day my mom broke the news that Santa had no control over the stork, and couldn’t grow a baby in a cabbage patch, and wouldn’t leave a rosy cheeked newborn swaddled in pink cloth in a wicker laundry basket on our doorstep in the freezing cold, was devastating. I remember sobbing under our dining room table (because that’s where you go when your siblings won’t let you play with them). After a good hour or two, I decided to pull myself up by the slouch socks and embrace being “the baby”. Eventually, I grew to love my birth order, and until a few months ago, I would have told you that I absolutely adore being the youngest…

…and then I met my new friend Skyler, the beautiful soon-to-be-bride that I’m about to introduce you to. Spending time with Skyler reminds me of all the reasons why I wanted a little sister so badly. She is sweet, she’s adorable, and I would love nothing more than to share what little advice I have with her, just as my sister has always done with me. I wouldn’t even be mad at the girl if she eavesdropped on my phone conversations and stole the new jeans out of my closet…not that a little sister would ever do such a thing;)

Seeing Skyler happy makes me happy. And nothing makes her more happy than her handsome fiance, Zach. They are going to make for the most adorable bride and groom ever when they get married in August. A few weeks ago, we celebrated their engagement at the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead. It was a miserable and rainy day until a few minutes before the party started and the skies cleared. A perfect testament that these two are truly meant to be.

Skyler is like a little pixie doll. I just want to take her home and dress her up! Scratch that. I want her to dress me up…her clothes are way cooler than mine.

This is Skyler’s mom, Karla. There isn’t enough room in this blog to describe how wonderful this woman is.

Zach’s family was so fun.  Gina, Zach’s mom, was the matchmaker, and clearly did an amazing job.

The very first night I met Skyler was on my wedding in 2010, the same night I also met my photographer and now friend, Rachel. Rachel is photographing Skyler and Zach’s wedding in August, and if the pictures come out half as beautiful as their engagement photos, they are guaranteed to be spectacular!

Skyler and Zach, the only thing that would have made this night better is if Riley could have attended. Love you both!
