Jimbo Pops the Question! | Boston Proposal Photographer

I had always wanted someone to tell me their proposal plan before they proposed. I assumed my brother would…but he didn’t. I’m pretty sure I got the details out of my brother-in-law before he popped the question, but that’s only because I cornered him at a party where I clearly knew he had a few too many chardonnays and loose lips. So when my friend, Jimbo, called and asked me to photograph his proposal to his girlfriend, Kelly, I was beyond excited to do so. Not only because I got to hear all the details of buying the ring and picking the proposal site, but because Jimbo is one of the greatest guys ever and it made me so happy to hear the excitement in his voice as we discussed all his plans.

(If you haven’t figured it out, I should probably mention that Jimbo’s real name is Jim. But somehow during our freshman year of college where our paths first crossed, his name became Jimbo and it physically pains me to call him anything else. So Jimbo, I’m sorry your proposal story is being told using your college nickname. If you have a problem with it, we can discuss over a drink at The IB.)

Jimbo met his future fiance, Kelly, while they were both working in Boston before they (abandoned me and) moved to Washington, DC this fall. Jimbo convinced Kelly to join him on a visit back to Boston under the guise of a business trip so he could propose to her in the town where they fell in love. After squeezing in a performance of The Nutcracker before his “meeting” Jimbo walked Kelly back to their hotel where he whispered a few sweet nothings in her ear, got down on one knee, and asked Kelly to marry him. Shocked and thrilled, Kelly said yes and after we all wiped the tears away, we were able to take a few photos before they headed on their merry way to dinner where Jimbo had all of their friends waiting to congratulate them. Seriously Jimbo, you set the engagement bar extremely high with this one.

These pictures give me chills. I love that they’ll have these photos to share for years to come.

Did I mention Jimbo happened to pick a warm December day to pop the question?  And the hotel had a mini ice skating rink with a skating Santa?  It was a storybook setting for an adorable proposal.

Jimbo and Kelly, I hope the rest of your days are filled with as much fun and love as this one. Thanks for allowing me to take part in your engagement story! Much love to you!
