I always knew she’d be a great mom.  She’s got all the qualities that a great mom needs: she’s organized, she’s caring, she’s punctual, she’s got a good sense of direction, she’s ambitious, she’s the first one to send you a birthday card and you can tell she put a lot of thought in finding the perfect one.  But I had no idea, NO idea, how much having a baby would change my sister.  When little Ruby entered the world six short months ago, my strong and put together sister became a big old pile of mama mush.  She’s always been loving, but never one to wear her heart on her sleeve.  But the minute she first held that sweet little baby, you could literally see her heart grew ten times the size and it is clear that she is absolutely 110% head over heels in love with her little girl.  And who can blame her?  Ruby has been the light of our lives since day 1.  She came around Christmas time and to say she is a gift is an understatement.  She is fun and sweet and so social.  She is the type of little baby you can’t help but scoop up, which I do every single chance I get.  I am oh so glad she is ours.

We got to spend an entire week together this summer and getting to watch Leo and Nico interact with their cousins, Ruby and Cameron, is something that I don’t take for granted.  I thank God every day that my brother, sister, and I all have children who are growing up together.  The memories we’ll help create and the bond that only cousins can have, is something I’ll cherish forever, as I hope they do too.

So happy half birthday to my sweet little Ruby-babe.  We love you more than you’ll ever know.  And to my best friend…you are totally killing this mom thing.
