Gia & Nathan’s Cambridge Wedding

Gia and Nathan.  Sighhhh.

I make it a practice not to beg for photography jobs.  But when I opened up Gia’s email in mid March looking for a photographer for her intimate May wedding which she described as “rustic with a touch of prep” I was intrigued.  When she said that it was going to be held at a funky new restaurant in Kendall Square, practically around the corner from me, I got very excited.  I did a google search, and after seeing pictures of the place, threw my whole business strategy (and my resolve) out the window and practically got down on both knees as I wrote back to Gia and Nathan begging them to let me be part of their day.  And when I met them in person and heard all the little details they were planning and how they were pulling basically my dream wedding together in less than two months, I pegged them as my new idols.  So many people start the wedding process saying they want something out of the box, but it’s really hard to actually make it happen.  Gia and Nathan did.  And if I were to get married again (to Alex, of course), I’d completely have a copy cat wedding and steal every single idea that these two had.

Now I have to just stray a little here to tell you about Gia and Nathan’s wedding venue, Commonwealth Cambridge.  It is, hands down, my new favorite restaurant in Boston and I’m dying for a night out to take Alex back there!  It’s located right on the Charles River in Kendall Square and I’m fairly certain the architect and interior decorators must have gone into my dreams and stolen every single one of my favorite design elements and created the most perfect space imaginable.  Picture walls covered in exposed brick and pallet board, open air windows, chalkboard signs, antique couches and tables, old school desk chairs and so much more.  Throw in some jelly jars, a wood-fired oven, and the most delicious farm to table food I’ve ever had and call it a day. If you’re in the Boston area and looking for a venue, definitely go here.  And then hire me to be your photographer because I need more excuses to go back. (Oh shoot.  There’s that whole beginning thing again.)

Cambridge was gorgeous on Gia and Nathan’s day.  It was the first nice day of the  year after a brutal winter, and it felt like everyone was outside and happy to be alive.  I started with Gia and her girls at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge.

95% certain their laughter had something to do with the crazy annoying photographer that was shooting the wedding that day. Make that 99% sure.

2015-06-01_0025.jpg Let’s play a game. You’re a photographer and taking a picture of these fun socks. Which would you choose to shoot? This question is not rhetorical. I’m looking for an answer here, people.
