Dog Days are Over.

Owning a dog has made me more akin to certain idioms…dog tired (which I always am), on a short leash (which Sauce always is), dog and pony show (which Sauce never has been able to execute) and hair of the dog (which on a Sunday morning, I think we both have.)  But the one that never made sense to me is “dog days”, and probably because my good old friend, “wikipedia” explains has nothing to do with dogs at all, but stars.  Who knew?  Regardless, Florence and the Machines “Dog Days” song was on mental repeat in my head, not only because it was the saddest holiday in the whole entire world this weekend, but also because we spent this Labor Day surrounded by by some of the most handsome canines in New England.

Meet Hans.  Hans is a 2.5 year old, 115 pound Swiss Mountain Dog.  It’s sickening how handsome this dog is.  If there were a Doggy GQ, I think we obviously have a cover model here.  Just look at his over-the-shoulder pose.Dog Days 201209011

And here is Weezy!  A little French Bulldog with a big personality.  Weezy was not nearly as amused with Sauce’s antics as Hans was, but he was a good host for the afternoon.  Here he is regulating.

And the one and only…while all the other dogs stayed well groomed and dry as a bone, Sauce had a great time continuously jumping in the water and then rolling around in the mud.  It was fantastic….just dandy.

Weezy seems pretty happy that Sauce isn’t allowed in his house with those muddy paws, don’t you think?
