Ohhh, I owe my little friend Clare a big apology. I was her last hope…her last chance, and I let her down. You see, I have a group of friends who were all lucky enough to get pregnant right around the same time, and ALL found out before the baby was born that they were having boys. The first announcement of a new boy was OK with Clare, as was the second…but after the third baby-boy-on-the-way announcement in addition to Clare finding out she was going to have a second little brother, kinda weighed on the poor girl.   Because we didn’t know the sex of little Leo, I was her only glimmer of hope that she would soon have a new little girlfriend. We talked about all the fun things Clare and my baby girl could do together because statistically, there was absolutely NO way that ALL of my friends were having boys…but when Clare’s mom broke the news that Leo was in fact, a boy, Clare finally had to come to terms that she was going to (temporarily) be the only girl in the little group. Her younger brother, Owen, running around the room yelling “I knew it was a boy, I knew it was a boy” on Leo’s birthdate didn’t really help this girlfriendless-little-girl much either. Luckily, Clare is a self-proclaimed “baby whisperer” and turned what some could see as a lonely position into being such a good help with all the babies. My girl Clare also got a fish, named Sophia, that is most definitely a female, to keep her company.  Isn’t that lucky?

Clare’s mama had her baby boy, Aiden, ten days after Leo. Little Aiden is such a love and I was THRILLED that she wanted a baby session for her third—because usually there’s no picture love for the third child (I’m living proof…my mom recently tried to pass off one of my sister’s baby pictures as mine when I called her out on having NONE of me.)

And then there’s Owen.  Have we talked about him?  He’s one of Alex’s favorite people ever because he has such a “spirit” about him.  (That’s the word you use when someone is really rambunctious, right?)  I’m constantly passing on stories about little Owen’s antics.  He is the perfect trifecta of trouble…REALLY adorable, REALLY smart, and REALLY mischievous.  But with a face like his, you can’t even be mad about it.  Love this little guy.

Clare had a special request.  She needed a few shots of her new girlfriend, Sophia, to bring to show and tell at Kindergarten.  How could I say no?

It’s so appropriate that I post this the week of Thanksgiving because I am extra thankful for the friendship of this family!  Love you guys!
