There’s something special about second babies.  I can’t put it into words or describe it, but there just…is.  Something about the way they just melt into your arms now that they’ve been broken in with your first, and fit so perfectly.  Something about how they are so calm and snuggly.  Something about the way their faces light up when you give them even the slightest bit of attention.  They are sweet and so so special.

My girl, Erica, knows this.  She has a special second named Nat and you can see her eye twinkle when she talks about him.  He’s her heart.  And when Erica told me that she wanted a session to document every detail about him before her baby slips away and becomes a little boy, my heart melted.  We got his chubby feet and his edible cheeks and absolutely memorialized his hair before he got it cut the next day.  We captured the way he sucks his little thumb and how tiny his hand looks next to his daddy’s.  We got the giggles he shares with his big sis, Caro, and the way his head fits perfectly into the nook of his mommy’s neck.  Time may pass and Nat will most certainly grow, but Erica will always have these pictures to look back and remember her sweet baby boy.  And to be the one that got to freeze this fleeting moment, well, my friends, that is the biggest honor.
