I love my job.  And today I’m feeling especially grateful because I just spent the last few hours sitting in Starbucks with an ice coffee and a huge smile on my face, which I’m sure seemed super creepy to the other patrons, while I edited these sweet faces on my computer.  I love that my “work” is so adorable.  I love that I can hop in the car and drive to a beautiful location and hang out with such a sweet, sweet family on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.  And I love love love that when these families enter my life, I usually get to see them again for additional sessions and see how they’ve changed and grown.

I remember photographing sweet baby Davis when he was so new to the world this same time last year.  He was one of the cutest, chubbiest, and easiest babies I’ve worked with which is not surprising because his mom, Emily, was so calm and collected having just had a baby.  I thought of her when I had Nico and it made me even more in awe.  Giving birth is no joke, and having a toddler bouncing around at home makes it ten times harder.  I felt so disheveled and hormonal and crazy right after Nico was born and I just kept thinking about Emily and remembering how she had it all under control.  She is like a mama rockstar and Jeff takes the prize as daddy rockstar too.  I remember him playing with Maisie during Davis’ newborn session and this year, it was the same.  Pretty sure he walked out of the car throwing Davis in the air with his left hand while twirling Maisie (in her stinking adorable cowgirl boots) with the right.

Davis celebrated his first birthday a few days after we took these photos and he is just the happiest little thing: big blue eyes, a huge giggly grin, and such a cool laid back personality.  I cannot believe how big he has gotten!  And his sis, Maisie, is still as sweet and spunky and FUN as I had remembered.  I’m hiring her as my assistant as soon as she’s old enough to get working papers!  (In the meantime, keep posing girlfriend!)
