Hiiii! Happy Saturday! I’m incredibly happy it’s the weekend, but super bummed to see this week over. Since Alex’s work forced him to abandon me to go to a dude ranch in Arizona (sounds like super important business, huh?), my mom decided to come to Boston to keep me company while he was busy riding horses and eating chili out of the can around a campfire, or whatever it is he had to do that was clearly business related. Having moved away from home right after college, I’ve never known what it’s like to live, as an adult, near my mom. I’ve always imagined it would be wonderful to have midweek dinners together, or go shopping for nothing in particular, or have her here to help me make life changing decisions, like what color paint I should buy for our guest bathroom…and it truly was. It felt like a dream come true when I’d come home from work and get to see her day after day after day and I so wish it was not just a temporary occurrence. If my mom could be a little less wonderful, it would make it so much easier to live away from her!

And speaking of amazing moms…my friend, Julie, is right up there on the top of the list. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that is more in love with her children. When Julie speaks of Danny and Alexa, she literally gets a twinkle in her eye and a little grin on her face. It’s adorable, and so are her not-so-little-anymore-twins, Danny and Alexa. I hadn’t seen these two since they went off to middle school and was terrified that they would be too cool to hang out with me, but when Julie opened her van door and they spilled out and ran over to give me a hug, I knew I was safe. They are still the same little sweethearts that they were when we first met five years ago.

One of these two was extremely excited about a hugging picture…the other, not so much. Guesses as to which was which?

Julie once told me that Danny and Alexa used to refer to me as “the one with the funny laugh”…it was REALLY hard to not laugh with these two in front of my lens!   2013-10-12_0012.jpg

Jules, thanks for letting me hang out with your babies. Such a great afternoon.
